VA Announces Grant Opportunity for Community-Based Suicide Prevention

Community organizations are invited to apply through the Fox grant program.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced a $112 million funding opportunity for organizations providing suicide prevention services to veterans. Grants will be awarded through the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program and are available to nonprofits, state and local governments, tribes, and community-based groups. The department reported that previous grant recipients supported tens of thousands of veterans, service members, and family members, including individuals identified as having elevated suicide risk.

“These grants invest directly in communities that know Veterans best and are often the first to recognize when someone is struggling,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins. “They have been successful in connecting Veterans, service members, and their families — especially those not yet engaged with VA — to services that help reduce suicide risk and promote well-being.”

Applications are due June 12, 2026, and funding is intended to support outreach, mental health services, and connections to care, including for veterans not currently engaged with VA services. The department noted it will provide technical assistance and application guidance to organizations seeking funding.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For VA Secretary Collins as he oversees suicide prevention grant distribution and outreach efforts.
  • For officials in the VA and the Veterans Health Administration as they coordinate community-based prevention services.
  • For veterans, families, and local organizations, that support services reach those experiencing crisis and provide effective assistance.
